World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its stats improve in value. This is the sum of all of its upgraded advantages (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on who you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.
The level of an item is a popular measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It also serves as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). The average item level can be found in the character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the level of an item. It's a useful gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it will be capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.
On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its level. It is also accessible by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the item level is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different values, and also that gems in sockets add to the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, since the level of the region the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, for example by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.
Item Stats
The stats of an item are a major element in what makes or breaks an item for players. click through the following page uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon, and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.
Upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded one time however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can do things like give the item additional damage, or give a specific capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by adding an additional name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This will cost a specific amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.
Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat or reroll affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll affixes, or choose which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives the player an opportunity to get better equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Moreover, certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item in the event that the upgrade fails.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which success rates can be increased and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..
The luck of an item can also affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has a base success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This could obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
