World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players increase the gear rating of an item up 700 points, and then add a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their distinctive stats. (For instance an excellently broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons don't change much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the cost.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally there are many weapons with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. In certain instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.

Armor
A few armor upgrades can make the world of difference to your survival. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. Generally speaking, the more defense your character is, the more value you will get out of each point of health therefore it is important to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the corresponding fountain you'll be able to contact any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.
You can't upgrade armor in the same way as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It is also recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still wear at the end of the story, for example the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the player a temporary status effect. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, enhancing the effectiveness of their effects. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. This can be earned by making them on a table or the chest of the Alchemist. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion used and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can choose the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll produce when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change its name.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the way potions are used. Splash potions for instance have now a duration of zero, not the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The potion table is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions are not able to be mixed in cauldrons. Additionally, using a potentio in a cauldron that is full drains the contents and refills the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. Similarly, a lingering potions' effect is extended by adding redstone. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were introduced, including the potion of leaping, the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose, but isn't particularly significant, such as a trinket. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons, armor, and potions. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. It can be done by the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl of the older one, and have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once the old ones are no longer useful and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded between players and are a viable alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondaries and then other items of gear will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. For instance when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks it is recommended that they upgrade their chest, helm, shoulders, and belt.
Once they have become useless, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket comes with an additional bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade can cause the trinket to be destroyed, unless it is saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying new ones.
